2nd Annual Friends & Foes Rendezvous

Last April I held an experimental event, dubbed the Friend & Foes Rendezvous, in which I invited people with whom I had contentious relationships online to come break bread with me and others. The objective was “to get as many LDS blog participants who are widely considered ‘conservative’ or ‘orthodox’ together in the same location with as many LDS blog participants who are considered ‘liberal’ or ‘unorthodox’ to meet each other face-to-face” in an effort toward re-humanization.
It wan interesting experience. For me, at least, it did help to humanize some of those with whom I have had conflict. It even led to some brief experiments with further interaction (some of which failed, despite sincere intentions from all involved).
I had originally planned to hold a Friends & Foes Rendezvous twice a year near General Conferences, but my schedule in the autumn last year was complicated and it didn’t happen.
In any case, I think it is a valuable endeavor and so I’m inviting you to attend the 2nd Annual Friends & Foes Rendezvous on Friday, April 3rd, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Eborn Books in Salt Lake City. Bring a potluck snack to share.
You can join the event on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/931454130239724/
Or you can just show up on a whim.
I look forward to meeting up with you,
J. Max Wilson

At times like this, I do wish I didn’t live so far from Utah.
Many other times, however, I’m perfectly happy to life thousands of miles from the mountain home of my ancestors.
Has it only been a year? Feels like longer. Alas, I won’t be able to make this one.
