Book of Mormon stories: As told by my son

Before my son goes to bed at night, he and I enjoy reading from the book My First Book of Mormon Stories.

Of course, my son has his own ideas on how the stories should be told.

Since he is unable to pronounce the word Liahona, he calls it the Leenahona. When we read from the story, I enjoy listening to him call it the Leenahona as he tells me, “it tells people where to go.”

In the chapter Nephi Builds a Ship, he proudly informs me that Nephi is building a pirate ship and that Nephi and his brothers are pirates looking for buried treasure. I gave up trying to correct him; he is only four-years old, after all.

When we ready about King Benjamin, he always asks me who built the tower for King Benjamin. Naturally, my son’s favorite store comes up in the discussion–Home Depot–and we move on to the next story.

I love reading with my son and enjoy his unique take on the stories from the Book of Mormon. What are some of your favorite stories from the scriptures as told by children?
