I screamed at Fort Collins… What were the other two?
None of the television stations in the Phoenix Metro are carrying conference, so I am relegated to watch/listen via the internet. Consequently, I may not be able to comment as much as I would like to. I look forward to following the comments as much as possible.

New Temples: Fort Collins, CO; Meridian, ID; Winnepeg, Canada
Yay Fort collins!!! Now we are 20 mins from a temple, instead of an 1:15!!!
So, since joined the church, I have gone from having a temple a six-hour drive to a four-hour drive to a 1:15 drive to now 20 mins. I wonder if that is typical.
Until the Hartford temple is built, I will be about two hours away from the Boston Temple. I will miss having a temple a mere 20 minutes from my home.

I loved the story about brethren who did not serve missions, but were still made to feel welcomed in the Church. What a powerful message!

Yeah, Geoff, that hour drive must be tough…still sitting at 5 hours for us, with no relief in sight. 🙂
Tom O, where do you live? One of the longest drives in the country was in my former stake in Miami. The people in Key West had to drive eight hours to get to the Orlando temple. Now there is a new temple planned for Fort Lauderdale, and it will only be 4 hours or so.
For anybody who cares, the Fort Collins stake president has said that site of the Ft Collins temple has not been announced and will not for a while. However, he has confirmed it is in the city of Fort Collins boundaries. There was some speculation it might be in a nearby city like Windsor, but, no, it is in Fort Collins itself. It’s a big city with lots of potential sites.
Central West Virginia. At almost the midpoint between the Washington DC and Columbus temples (we’re in the Washington Temple district). Before DC, this area was part of the Manti Temple district.

Unless someone makes a major announcement, I tend to think it is a little impolite to comment about talks in a session that has not yet concluded.
I was overjoyed at Fort Collins too. That is one of my favorite places. For the past six years, I’ve actually thought a lot about moving to the Cheyenne Wyoming area, about 50 miles north of Fort Collins.
I’ve actually been to Fort Collins and had a good week of book-slinging in 2005.

Tom O, yeah, West VA must be one of the places that is farthest from a temple now. Obviously most of Alaska is far, and then upstate Maine and NH. But someday a temple will be closer.
Book, move to Cheyenne, and then you’ll only be an hour from me. If I can ever run again, we could train for a 10k or something together. 🙂
Back to what started the discussion. There is still some time to go, but there are General Conferences where a particular topic stands out. Perhaps that is intentional or maybe the Spirit witnesses to different speakers. This year the theme is serving others no matter who or why. It could be donating to disaster relief or offering a blessing to a person in need. of course service is true religion as the Scriptures say.
